Our Mission To build a loving community that obeys Christ in order to reach our community that desperately needs Him. Building a loving community means: We take seriously God’s plan for us to live out our relationship with Him in community. It is our responsibility to value every person who enters the doors of Oakbrook Church and to create encouraging, safe, nurturing and healing relationships with each other. Specifically, we are called to: ~ look out for the needs and interests of others Phil 2:4 ~ accept each other as Christ has accepted us ~ show hospitality toward each other ~ support each other in times of need ~ carry each other’s loads of concern in prayer ~ work around each others weaknesses ~ hang out with each other and have fun together Obeying Christ means: We take seriously our responsibility to progressively bring our lives into conformity with God’s Word. Specifically, we are called to: ~ stand our ground doctrinally as the pillar and support of the truth 1 Timothy 3:15 ~ teach that Christ is the theme and central focus of Scripture, both old and new Testament ~ train believers to study the Bible and apply its truth to their own lives ~ teach the Word of God faithfully and systematically ~ challenge ourselves and each other to be Christlike Reaching our Community that desperately needs Him means: We take seriously our responsibility to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ into the World beginning in our own community. Specifically, we are called to: ~ clearly and persistently teach the gospel ~ personally and corporately serve our community ~ train believers how to share their lives and their faith with others ~ go into the world by sending and supporting both volunteer short-term mission teams and vocational missionaries
